money eventually creates a mindset, such as the one we currently live in, in which we look for eternal life instead of enjoying real happiness.

as already mentioned, money's real effects go way beyond happiness. but i think we can say that at the end of the day happiness can be a useful way to determine what money does.
money puts food in our table, which brings happiness. provides healthcare, which brings happiness, at the end of the day money will give or take from you and this will make you feel happy or sad.
In addition, the hatred and jealousy and greed cause unhappiness and the necessity to replace an empty hole with a material thing.

this is because ultimately every action we do that involves money is something that will lead to our well-being, comfortability, health, in other words, it leads to happiness.
