Learning Theories
Social Learning Theory: The social learning
theory (SLT) theorizes that humans learn
from observing each other and working
together. SLT is important to understand
when integrating social media into a
training plan because social media gives
trainees an opportunity to learn through
observation and collaboration (McLeod,
2011).
Constructivism: Constructivism argues that
students construct knowledge based on
their experiences (Hein, 1991). The social media
platform will give the trainees information
and allow them to incorporate it into their experiences and construct knowledge based on that.
Connectivism: Connectivism describes how
people started using the Internet and
technology to gain and share knowledge.
This training plan utilizes connectivism by
using social media to allow trainees to
connect and share their knowledge (Siemens, 2004).
