Climate Change
Addressing (Curbing)
Cap and trade: put legal limits on countries, some countries can purchase credits from others.
-
-
Wedges: using wedges, solving climate change can be broken down into smaller, more manageable pieces.
The Kneeling Curve shows the Earth's temperature, shows that our Earth started warming up as soon as the industrial revolution hit.
Effects
Sea levels rise, this could flood cities that are too close to the sea, leading to devastating destruction.
The water cycle could be disrupted, leading to extreme weather events.
-
-
Severe economic disruption will occur, leading to a recession/depression.
Evidence
-
The ice caps are warming fastest, 4 C in the past 50 years.
-
Wildlife has been disrupted, ecosystems and biomes can't adapt.
Computer models can predict past climate with accuracy, can predict future change.
How Climate Works
Radiation warms Earth, greenhouse gasses prevent that gas from leaving. This warms the Earth.
It is important to our planet because it keeps it from getting too cold or too hot. Too little greenhouse gasses and our planet would be an ice ball, too much gas would mean out planet is way too hot.
