Peptide antibiotics
Carbapenems
• Meropenem
good against some imipenem resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa,
• Ertapenem
-
penetrate body tissues and fluids well, including the cerebrospinal fluid.
-
• Imipenem
a wide variety of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. Streptococci (including penicillin-resistant S. pneumoniae), staphylococci (including penicillinase-producing strains), and Listeria are all susceptible. Activity is excellent against the Enterobacteriaceae, including organisms that are cephalosporin-resistant.
inactivated by dehydropeptidases in renal tubules,
it is administered together with an inhibitor of renal dehydropeptidase, Cilastatin, :red_flag:
-
• Urinary tract infections
• Lower respiratory tract infections
• Intra-abdominal infections
• Gynecological infections
• Skin and soft tissue, bones and joint infections
• Cephalosporin-resistant bacteria (Citrobacter Freundii, Enterobacter)
-
Monobactams
-
-
-
excellent against entero- bacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
and H. influenza and gonococci (in vitro)
