      - A female fruit fly will often mate with other males. The sperm of the most recent male will displace the older sperm and fertilize her eggs. Male will try to prevent other males from mating with them. They do this by this by inserting chemical substances together with their sperm, which makes the female smell like a male. This puts off other males for a few hours
