This is corncerned with the complex issues oof strategic inter organizational partnership for achieving competitive advantage. This is about the sharing of information and efficient use of the information for coordinating business processes to deliver a superior value to the customer.

This is concerned with the design of the product. It is possible that the designed determines the strategies to be followed regards inventory or transportation. Beside that, it also determine the length of product life cycle and extent of uncertainty associated with the demand of this product.

This is the concerned of the levels of the inventory to be held at the various point in supply Chain. The sensible approach is to hold as low an inventory as possible but businesses force to hold inventories as a buffer to counter the affects of an uncertain demand.

This corncerned the distribution of the firm's products. There are several strategies available such as the classical distribution startegy or direct shipping.

The issues is deals with the design of distrubution network to serve the specific market. It consists of warehouse and retail outlets, manufacturing plant, supply sources ( consideration of location & capacity of each element ). This will also determine the level of service available for customers.

Relationship between suppliers and buyers are established by means of supply contract that specify pricing and volume discount, deliver lead time, quality, return and so forth.

Information technology is a critical enabler of effective supply chain management. Much of the current interest in supply chain management is motivated by the opportunities due to abundance of data and saving that can be achieved by sophisticated analysis of these data. Proper analysis and data processing depend on many factors and maybe a hurdle for supply chain management

The bullwhip effect is a distribution channel phenomenon in which forecasts yield supply chain inefficiencies. It refers to increasing swings in inventory in response to shifts in customer demand as one moves further up the supply chain.
