Micturition cycle
- Urine made kidneys, stored bladder, relased urethra through relaxation of internal sphincter muscles in neck of bladder + contraction of detrusor muscle in bladder
- Relaxation and contraction is brought about by parasympathetic NS and not under volunatary control
- External urethral sphincter under voluntary control. innervated by somatic NS
Mictruition
Involunatarily
- Bladder can reach certain threshold and high tension. Mictruition reflex through PNS
Voluntary
- Triggered by higher brain centres through CNS, receives signals from stretch receptors in bladder
Presence of blood, proteins and nitrites in urine
Proteins: Glomerulonephritis, diabetes + UTI. Also, 2nd CHD and temp vigourous exercise

Blood: UI, kidney stones, tumours in bladder or kidney glomerulonephritis (inflam of kidney), sickle cell disease etc
