Macbeth as powerful
'O full of scorpions is my mind, dearest wife'
'Be innocent of the knowledge, dearest chuck'
This is what the audience would expect from Macbeth. He is protecting his wife form what he has done. Women were not expected to know gory details and expected to remain innocent and delicate. This is exactly what Macbeth is doing here, showing how Lady Macbeth's power is starting to wane. Also ironic as in her sleepwalking, she references this murder, even though he has not told her

Macduff
'[Malcolm} Dispute it like a man...[Macduff] But first, I must feel it like a man'
Macduff challenges stereotypical ideas of masculinity through this, since in the context an ideal man was a soldier and a warrior. Macduff shows how men feel emotion too and presents his strong feelings for family. He is encouraged to turn his grief into anger and 'dispute it like man' so fight Macbeth, which he does in the end
