Definition
Malignancy of lymphocytes
Can be either T-cell lymphoma or B cell lymphoma
B-cell lymphoma can be further subdivided
Burkitts lymphoma
Hodgkins Lymphoma
Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma

Diagnostic criteria
Prognosis
Allow correct treatment once appropriately diagnosed
Comparison of treatment trials
Need to standardised - applicable any country
Hodgkins = 20% or NHL 70-80%
Requirements of Lymphoma
Diagnosed (using immunohistochemical markers) and graded by histopathologist
Staged by radiologist/ clinical using special tests
Discussion at MDT

Tumour Markers
Keratin - think carcinoma - SCC. Cytokeratin = marker
Glands or mucin or tubules think adenocarcinoma
Melanin pigment think melanoma - look at skin, anus or retina for primary. S100P or HMB45 immunomarkers
CD45 - (common leucocyte antigen) to differentiate an undifferentiated malignant lymph node lymphoma from carcinoma
Vimentin - mesenchymal
