Malalas hometown remained a popular tourist spot that was known for its summer festivals. But, the area began to change as the Taliban tried to take control.
What happened and why?
What: In 2012 the taliban attempted to assisinate Malala while she was on the bus home from school. She survived and went to the U.K. where she underwent several operations.
Why: Malala was amoung the many of the girls in her area that went to school
Nobel peace prize
She was the youngest person to receive a Nobel peace prize
She received the prize in 2014 at the age of 17
during her acceptance speech she said: “Why is it that countries which we call strong are so powerful in creating wars but are so weak in bringing peace? Why is it that giving guns is so easy, but giving books is so hard?”
