Professional Learning Space
Start :fire:The County Office of Education will be renovating some meeting rooms in the next 18-24 months. This is perfect time to assess what can be improved for multi-purpose professional learning spaces.
Context
Status Quo :warning:Survey all stakeholders on the current status of learning spaces: including reservation process, set-up and clean-up, ease of presentation, and ability to learn.
Engage :pencil2:Discuss room set-up and learning formats with presenters and adult learners. Compare responses with experiences at other learning spaces.
Invite :unlock:Ask professional learning leaders from other county offices of education to provide input on learning space set-up and options.
Opportunities
Priorities :star:Determine the primary uses for each room (eg. whole group instruction) and then maximize the design for that purpose. Perhaps learning spaces can be reserved by learning style.
Amplify :tada:Identify common instructional strategies among county office of education professional learning leaders and include those learning tools in all rooms.
Tackle :unamused:Identify the most common negative feedback from professional learning leaders and adult learners and address those items in the renovated learning space designs.
Seek
Inspiration :explode:Ask professional learning leaders to gather ideas for learning spaces while they attend events at other educational institutions.
Solution :recycle:Brainstorm learning space design ideas by inviting architects and presenters from local businesses to share ideas for designing learning spaces.
Narrow :!:Invite all stakeholders to review ideas generated up to this point in the process. Ask them to identify the best ideas. Perhaps this process can be ongoing.
Implement
Plan :check:Work with Technology Services and Maintenance & Operations staff to create timeline for learning space redesign.
Rally :unicorn_face:: Discuss the purpose of the learning spaces and renovation of the learning spaces at community events, such as Rotary Club meetings.
Reality :checkered_flag:Perhaps as a county office of education, we can accept donations of in-kind work. Or, the learning space could be enhanced with artwork from students. :
Evolve
Iterate :crown:As the renovated learning space begins operation, conduct the same surveys that were used to determine the status quo to determine successes and needs for reiteration.
Share :confetti_ball:Create presentations and poster sessions about the redesigned learning spaces to share at events such as the CUE Conference.
