Systems Verification thinking TR
Reflective work, investigation techniques,
Opportunity for me to reflect on my career and how this program supports it.
Listening to and sharing personal experiencecs (both teaching staff and other students)
Practical activities
Strength of the format and what didn't work so well
DAY 1 and 2
Days 1 and 2 - good balance of information delivery and practical application but I think some could have been pre-reading and prep worl. We're all career professionals and should have capacity to do this.
DAY 3
Day 3 - safety and risk section. Good content. Possibly some could have been pre reading or recorded lectures? Practical activity was good but quite a basic level.
DAY 4 and 5
Bill was lovely and great to listen to. He has so much experience and many stories to share, but his time could have been managed much better though
See oversights and challenges
Significant lack of advice, instruction and clarity given around expectations for the assessment piecce
Getting together as a group to learn from teaching staff in a practical context and learning from the years of experience in the room.
Oversights and Challenges
Limited risk management
Lack of advice and better schedulling and planning
No advice was provided about having to work through the night. We commenced at 8am and were not instructed to ensure we had food ect. Cafe was closed, we were left by ourselves, had to walk to car in the dark alone, (snakes and trip hazards), toilets were locked. This was unacceptable.
Staff breaching safety procedures - not a good look
Students having to adhere to safety procedures but staff clearly breaching them. I.e. walking over rail lines.
Lack of instructions and expectations for final assessment
Different answers from different teaching staff
Assessment expectations exceeded the required time to do tasks, complete required group work, and submit and present information.
Lack of coordination
Behaviour/ communication style one 1 Teaching staff member - happy to talk one on one about this if need.
Tone, abrupt, unhelpful in a learning environment.
Condescending toward students.
Maybe a personal issue?? But I do know others experienced and felt the same way.
Learning experience overall score
SCORE: 3
I did learn and enjoyed getting my hands dirty doing the practical exercises but it could have been condensed and timeframes shortened, and the issues outlined (see in the map) resolved.
