Act 5: "Yet I'll not shed her blood,
Nor scar that whiter skin of hers than snow,
And smooth as monumental alabaster.
Yet she must die, else she'll betray more men." - through the use of the noun "alabaster" meaning a translucent form of gypsum or calcite, typically white, often carved into ornaments .Othello resolves to kill Desdemona,as he is preoccupied with Desdemona's "whiter" than snow skin, therefore doesn't want to stab her as he doesn't want to "scar" her flesh. He consequently is smothers her to death emphasising that her character becomes passive and defenceless.Desdemona cannot believe othello would be drawn into jealousy as she has not given him a cause - so she defends him till death.
