Brine Shrimp Write Up Cole Needham
Set up Procedure
Put 237.5 milliliters of water into each bottle
put 12.5 grams of instant ocean salt into the bottle
put 1 gram of shrimp eggs into each bottle
leave the cap off of every bottle
put under a light
let it sit until the next day
Repeat these step above, but change the type of salt
Take data
Background of Brine Shrimp
Salt Water species
Thrive best in 3-5% salinity
Can stay in their eggs for a very long time
They need perfect living conditions to hatch
Grow to about 15mm
Salinity is the most influential living condition for the shrimp
Materials
12.5 grams of each salt
4 bottles of water
4 grams of brine shrimp eggs
perti dish
magnifying glass
pippet

Procedure for gathering data
Get a two milliliter sample from the bottle with the shrimp
Put the sample into a petri dish
Count the amount of Shrimp
Multiply that number by 125 if you want to get the total amount of shrimp in the bottle
Repeat that 3 times to get an average of that one bottle

Conclusion
Lab Q: What type of salt will the shrimp hatch the best in?
I hypothesized that the Instant ocean slat would have the most amount of hatching, because that is the normal salt for the shrimp.
The himalayan salt did the best in this experiment, because it hatched the most amount of brine shrimp.
i never thought that the himalayan salt would do the best.
