Week 4 -8
CS 11
- Rostral neuropore closing, caudal neuropore open
- Embryo starting to curve due folding cranial and caudal ends
CS 10
- Neural folds fuse form neural tube (primordium of spinal cord in this region)
- Neural tube still opened at cranial and caudal ends + communicates amniotic cavity via rostal and caudal neuropores
CS 12
- Embryo very curved: prominent tail like caudal emininence
- Lens placode primoridium of lens of eye
- Rostral neuropore closed
- 3 pairs PA preesnt
- Primoridal heart: large ventral prominence + pumps blood
CS 13
- Primordial heart large, divided into primordial atrium and ventricle
- Both rostral and caudal neuropores are closed
- Embryo C shaped curve
- Upper and lower limb buds visible
- 4 pairs of PA present
CS 14
- Rapid development brain + facial prominences: face contacts heart prominences
- Mesonephric ridges indicate site mesonephric kidneys, interim functional kidney
- Upper limb buds: paddle shaped. Lowe limb buds: flipper like
CS 17
- Digital rays (primordia of digits) begin devlop
- Auricular hillocks develop + contribute formation auricle (external ear)
- Retinal pigment visible (eyes)
- Intestines enter extra embryonic coelom in proximal part umbilical cord
- Embryos shows spontaneous movements + response touch
CS 23
- 8th week start: digits hand + feet separated still webbed. END: lengthened and separated
- Scalp vascular plexus appears
- Coordinated limb movements
- Primary ossification femur
- END 8: Distinct human chars
Derivatives Pancreas
Ventral bud forms uncinate process and inferior part head pancreas. Rest pancreas derived dorsal bud
-
-
-
Resp system
Epithelium internal lining larynx, trachea, bronchi + lungs: endodermal.
- Cartilaginous, muscular and connective tissue trachea + lungs derived splanchnic mesoderm surrounding foregut
Lung bud expands cranially, two ridges (tracheoesophageal ridges) appear, fuse + form tracheosophageal septum: divides forgut
Dorsal: oesphagus
ventral: trachea and lung buds
-
Lung maturation:
- Pseudoglandular:6-16 weeks
- Canalicular: 16-26 weeks
- Terminal saccular: 26 weeks to birth
- Alveolar: 32 weeks to 8 years
Derivatives GI
-
Endodermal sprouting results formation primordial thyroid, thymus + lungs upper section foregut. Lower part foregut primordial liver and pancreas develop
Folding cephalo-caudal manner: cavity divided 3 compartments: foregut, midgut + hindgut
Derivatives Liver
Liver bud diff parenchyma (liver cells) haematopoietic, kupffer cells and connective tissure derived mesoderm
-
-

- Digestive tract
- Epithelial lining resp tract
- Essential tissues thyroid, parathyroid, liver and pancreas
- Connective tissues thymus and tonsil
- Epithelial lining urinary bladder, urethra, tympanic membrane and auditory tube
