Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a very important man because without him rebelling then people wouldn't want to start forming new churches and religions.
Martin Luther was born in Germany in the year 1483.
He was a famous Professor of theology.
He was a Composer
He was priest.
Martin Luther was part of
Martin Luther had an important impact on history because he helped changed the way the people where thinking in his area.
The Weakening of the Catholic Church
The Catholic Church would do many terrible and horrifying things.
For example, The Catholic Church Would make innocent people pay for indulgence
The Catholic Church started to lose many people because of there rules and how they would do things so people started to make their own churches and have their own rules
The weakening of the catholic church happend because of there rules.
People started making other churches such as the Anglican Church, Lutheran Church, and Calvinist Church, etc
The Protestant Church
Protestants are people who protested against the Catholic Church.
Most of the people that have protested either made their own church because they did not like their ways
Martin Luther would protest about the catholic ways and how the would treat other and how they would do such horrible things and feel good about doing it.
Protestant churches began because they did not like how the catholic church would do thing and how people would pay for indulgences and other rules so they made there own church how they like it and they would make their own rules .
Reformation Leaders
The Reformation Leaders also know referred to as the Protestant Reformation and the European Reformation, was a schism from the Roman Catholic Church initiated by Martin Luther and continued by John Calvin, Huldrych Zwingli
Each person did something to help the Reformation make it´s path these leaders where what made a huge impact in history.
Martin Luther was an Reformation Leader because he was a person that protested and got lots of fame and made a protestant church.
One of the Reformation´s leaders was John Wycliffe.
John Wycliffe was a scholar in England. What made him famous/popular was that he question the pope´s authority in public.
He also questioned about the indulgences and unfairness of the church like Martin Luther.
Another Reformation's leaders was John Calvin he was born in the year 1509 and he died in 1564 (he was about 55 years old when he died)
He created the religion called Calvinism.
In his religion the people had to believe that there is only a certain amount and type of people that where "elected" to go to heaven. The others would go to hell.
He states if you sang,danced, played cards, or wore fancy clothing that you would go to hell.
Another Reformation Leader was Catherine of Siena, she lied throughput the years of 1347 to 1380. She was roughly about 33 years old when she died.
Catherine of Siena was an Italian mystic. Which is a person who it devoted and dedicated to religion and it's beliefs. She was declared a saint in 1461. She showed everyone that "people could lead spiritual lives that went beyond the usual norms of the church."
Desiderius Erasmus(1466-1536) was a humanist from Holland. He was one of the most outspoken figures of the Reformation. Desiderius wanted to return the simple goodness of the Christian religion.
Religions
Lutheranism
:Lutheranism was created by Martin Luther. The religion practiced that people had to to follow the teaches and practices of the church.The sacraments were an important part of the religion. For example when you get baptized it "wipes away" the original sin.
Calvinism
: Calvinism was created by John Calvin. The religion states that only people who were "elected" got to go to heaven. The rest had to go to hell. Another thing that John believed is that if you sang,wore fancy clothes,danced, or even played with card they would go to hell.
Anglicanism
: Anglicanism was created by King Henry VIII in England. The religion was based on the Catholic Church as well Protestant ideas. Anglicanism was created for personal and political reasons. The personal one was that King Henry wanted a divorce his wife because she could not give the king a boy so he would be heir to the throne. The political reason is that he
didn't
want to share his money or his wealth.
