Basic Elements of Poetry Notes
Rhyming Scheme: When two words that sound the same come together.

One Foot: Monometer
Two Feet: Dimeter
Three Feet: Trimeter
Four Feet: Tetrameter
Five Feet: Pentameter
Sic Feet: Hexameter
Couplet: Stanza with 2 lines
A stanza is to a poem what a paragraph is to a piece of prosaic writing - a fixed number of lines of verse forming a single unit of a poem.
Terect: Composed of 3 lines
Quatrain: Consists of 4 lines
Cinquain: Stanza with 5 lines
Seset: Made of 6 lines
Sonnet: Entire poem with 14 lines
