HISTORY
FIRST SETTLEMENTS
• In 1486 Bartolomeu Dias came to South Africa • In 1652 Jan Van Riebeeck founded Cape Town
• In 1797 the united kingdom occupied the city of the leader
• In 1931 the united kingdom approved the state of Westminster
• In 1948 the national party established the apartheid .
BOERS
The Boers are the members of the Dutch and Huguenot population that settled in southern Africa in the late 17th century.
During the 16th and 17th centuries, Dutch, Boers , Germans, and Huguenots migrated to South Africa.
BRITISH
During the Napoleonic Wars, the Cape Colony was annexed to the British and became their colony officially in 1815. This period segnatoanche the rise to power of the Zulu under their king Shaka Zulu. APARTHEID
Apartheid was a policy of racial segregation established after World War II by the white Government of the Republic of South Africa. It was abolished in 1994.

LANGUAGES
South Africa has 11 official languages. Before 1994 only English and Afrikaans were official languages.
The most inclusive language is still the zulu, which is understood by more than 50% of the population
and is becoming a lingua franca of the country;

The national flag of the Republic of South Africa was adopted on 27 april 1994.
The flag was designed by the State Herald Frederick Brownell in the years when Nelson Mandela was President.
It represents the multicultural society of South Africa and its history.
