Over time, knowledge has become more accurate
Deconstruction of question
knowledge
accurate
what does accurate mean?
closer to truth?
more relevant to our life now
over time
day, year, decades, centuries, etc
cultural context changes
does that mean the knowledge before is "inaccurate"?
false knowledge
how do we know it is false knowledge?
how do we determine the accuracy of the knowledge
AOKs
Natural science
what will make it more "accurate?"
advanced technology
New discoveries
History
biased view at the time
able to see history from different perspectives
can also be used as counterclaim
memory --> makes people forget things over time
Knowledge Question
How significant is time in determining the accuracy of knowledge in natural sciences and history?
History
Claim: Yes, time is significant
Real-life example: People's view on certain historical event (yet to decide, but event such cultural revolution in china, or who was to blame for cold war)
over the time, the same event can be seen from more different perspectives
at the time of context, there might have been censorship that people were not able to express their opinions openly
there are both primary and secondary sources available over the time, that people can use them to argue
Hence, making the event more accurate (as from today's context, since we are able see the history from holistic point of view)
WOKs used
reasoning (use of primary/ secondary sources)
language
emotion
Counter-claim: No, time is not significant
Real-life example: Personal example (i.e. childhood memeory)
history is still about the past, so people tends to forge things from the past, if they were not recorded down
as the memory fades away, the knowledge can be more biased to the way that one wants it to be, and thus beomes less accurate.
WOKs used
memory causing bias
reasoning
emotion
Natural Sciences
Claim: Yes, time is significant
over the time, the technology development (i.e. the invention of the microscope) allows the scientist to discover new things
there is the corroborations of the discoveries with the technology also

reasoning
emotion
Real-life example: The development of the periodic table
contributions of many scientists over the past 2 centuries
the arrangements of atoms in the periodic table is different from time to time (give the example of John Newlands, Dmitri Mendeleev)
Numbers of atoms in the periodic table also change with time.
At each of the period, their atomic table was considered as the most accurate
Counter-claim: No, time is not significant
Real-life example: Newton's law of motion
over time, the laws will not change--> it remains
scientists discover new knowledge based on these fundamental laws
However, even though that being said, there are still time, when the laws of science, in this case the Newton's law are defeated.
for example the discovery of the negative mass
