Africa Harry Jacob
Vincent
Callum and Jacob 😉
Social - Due to Vincent's wife dying he has to raise his children on his own, giving him less time to work. This means that he will have less time to find jobs or even another partner to help him look after his family while he tries to make back what he's lost. Long term
Economic - Has to sell all of his stock to provide food and medicine for both him and his children. This means he will no longer be able to gain money from his animals as he will have sold them and as well as buying medicine and food (which is where a majority of his money will go) he will also have to buy other essentials such as clothes which he may not be able to afford.
Malawi, South-Eastern Africa
Ideas :bulb: In Malawi the percentage of the population with aids is 9.1% this means that resources to treat aids would be quite scarce. In Malawi only 61% of adults are on antiretroviral drugs which means that 39% of the population are not being actively treated. This is an indication that there may not be enough resources to treat Vincent and his family. Even is they do get a monthly intake of the drugs they still won't cure their aids but only delay its effects.

Social - A very negative social stigma occurs around sex workers with HIV/AIDS. this social stigma and discrimination. This can a affect the ability for sex workers to get jobs which also resyricts the amount of money they can spend on paying for treatment for hiv or aids.
-
Economic - Sex workers are unable to work if the have HIV/AIDS, because it will allow HIV/AIDS to spread. If they aren't earning any money the will not be able to afford for the treatment.
Asia - Chloe
Sophie Cambodia
-
Social - Sophie has AIDs whilst very young, this negatively long term impacts her as she may not survive much longer especially if she has nobody but her grandmother to look after her who could eventually die.
Social- She has AIDS and has no parents which impacts her upbringing and her grandmother who will be be negatively affected as well as Sophie because she is 73 and will probably die before Sophie becomes a teenager.
Economic- In the future because of Sophie's disease she will struggle getting a job which will result in a low profit/income.
Economic - Sophie is only 3 so she is not earning income and if her grandmother passes she will have none, therefore if she does get severly sick from and AIDs infection then there is no medical support impacting chances of survival. This is a negative long term impact.
In Cambodia there is 74,100 people who live with AIDs, Cambodia is a part of Asia within the Northern hemisphere. Asia has one of the lowest percentages of people living with Aids compared to other continents such as Africa. Africa is in the Southern hemisphere and has the highest percentage of Aids/HIV, this links to Sophie because in Asia she still has a small chance of surviving because she wont be able to afford medical attention to slow down the disease.
The global pattern of AID's is concentrated in Africa and then dispersed/sparse, this means that in the Southern Hemisphere there is a higher percentage of AID's compared to the Northern. This relates to Asia because Asia is in the Northern hemisphere meaning Sophie is apart of the small percentage of people living with AID's in Cambodia. A result of this means there is medication to aid in slowing the disease down which costs too much for Sophie's grandmother to afford. Sophie's grandmother is 79 meaning there is a high chance of her being dead by the time Sophie is a teenager, the grandmother already struggles due to looking after 5 kids.

Social
The american homosexuals social circle is smaller then that of the heterosexual population because it is less socially acceptable to be gay, this could lead to higher levels of aids within homosexuals because when there are less people and the circle is smaller this means there is a higher chance of meeting someone homosexual with aids from acts such as unprotected sex compared to meeting a person without aids. twenty percent of gay men are HIV positive in north america
