The giraffe gives birth standing up, so the first thing that happens to a new-born giraffe is a fall of about two metres. Still dazed, the baby tries to stand up on its four legs, but its mother behaves very strangely: she gives the baby giraffe a gentle kick which sends it sprawling. It tries to get up and is again knocked down. This process is repeated several times, until the new-born giraffe is too exhausted to stand. At that point, the mother kicks it again, forcing it to get to its feet. After that, she does not push the baby giraffe over again. The explanation is simple: in order to survive predators, the first lesson a giraffe must learn is to get to its feet quickly.
Watched a video to check this.. not a pretty sight... This little baby giraffe looks like a couple of spaghetti stands trying to stand up- It takes ages- When it finally gets up the mother starts nudging it and kicking it- Someone should call cyfs for giraffes...
Both the mother bird and mother giraffe are looking at the big picture- They know that there is something that their baby needs to learn- Sometimes we can feel angry or let down about hard things that we go through -We may want God to give us the roses without the thorns- But sometimes we can have difficult situations in our lives because God wants us to learn how to stand stronger, to run faster or to soar higher than we would have if had stayed in our comfort zone.
I'm not saying that if you're having bad things happen to you it's because God wants to "teach you a lesson" Or that bad things only happen if you're not acting like a mature Christian. Jesus made it pretty clear in a number of illustrations that bad things happen to both good and bad people. The Apostle Paul was shipwrecked in a storm on the Island of Malta. -He was there for a reason- while he was there he healed people and taught them about God- the impact of his visit to those people is still evident today- thousands of years later.
He went on to write in Philippians 4: 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

But when we are the ones experiencing it we can get frustrated- angry- Doesn't it say in the Bible that "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-24 -This kicking I'm getting sure doesn't feel like steadfast love...
