First started to be known about publicly
with publications like the ladder
Not much information at the time about homosexuality was known because it was regarded as taboo
It was rarely discussed in public
Did not wish to use assimilation tactics unline some racial groups
Pride stems from this moment in history of being themselves including dressing the way they felt comfortable even with looming danger ahead
An opressed group within being a part of another opressed group that being women
Traditional Gender Roles
Domesticity simplifies life
Working divides a woman from her children
Too large of a burden to be involved in all aspects of life
Too much freedom puts pressure on women to not be domestic
Unable to supervise children in the working world may disadvantage them later on
Femenism
A way to escape the "bottom of the economic and social scale."(440)
Overcoming sexism in the work force
Higher education as a way to mobility
A way to bond with other ladies striving for the same equality
Reproductive Rights
Abortion outlawed and because of that rarely done safely
Very little knowledge on birth control avalible
Pro-life argument in full force
Few contraceptive options
Medical malpractice rampant
Abortions were very frowned upon societally
