PIES
P- carers physical health can be affected by lack of sleep, more illnesses, dietary issues and mental health issues
I- they may find it hard to concentrate, may have lack of qualifications, may not go into further education
E- may experience conflicting emotions, may feel resentful and may have behavioural problems
S- may struggle seeing friends, may not know how to interact with others

Barriers
EMPLOYMENT- may have restricted work hours or face lack of flexibility from employers, may be disadvantaged in labour markets

SOCIETAL- may stand out and be oversensitive, may not care about themsleves

Risks
BULLYING- prejudice from other children and teachers, be excluded from social situations
SELF-HARM- may become depressed over seeing parent suffer and feel alone so self-harms to reduce feelings
STRESS- may feel pressured balancing jobs, school and caring

Causes
normally happens when family members become ill and cannot afford proper care. Many young carers feel obliged to care for parents who are ill so do not access help
Treatment
as this is mainly to do with the child caring for the parent there is no treatment, only the treatment the parent received for their condition
