French Revolution
The Three Estates- 1. Clergy-highest on social ladder 2.Nobility-richest of the nobility 3. 98 percent of the population
Economy- Before the revolution of 1789, royal France was a textbook example of mercantilism. Nothing was produced or sold, imported or exported, without government approval and regulation
Estates General was the pre- Revolutionary Monarchy Louis XVI decided for everyone o vote together Third estate formed national assembly
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY- existed from June 13, 1789 to July 9, 1789, formed by the third estate, and helped the common people by establishing a committee of substance to deal with food shortages
Louis XVI was the last king of France (1774–92) in the line of Bourbon monarchs preceding the French Revolution of 1789. He was executed for treason by guillotine in 1793.
Reign of Terror lasted from September 1793 until the fall of Robespierre in 1794. Its purpose was to purge France of enemies of the Revolution and protect the country from foreign invaders
THE DIRECTORY- five member committee,overthrown by Napoleon Bonaparte in the Coup of 18 Brumaire,gave its name to the final four years of the French Revolution.

Galileo- believed the earth moved around the sun in a circular motion;discovered the four largest satellites of Jupiter
Copernicus- ormulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at the center of the universe;De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium ("On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres"). In it, Copernicus established that the planets orbited the sun rather than the Earth
