about 730 members (unelected peers), can delay bills and suggest amendments, has little power
House of Commons:
about 650 members of Parliament, elected for max. 5 years, makes laws
other Parliaments or Assemblies:
Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, Northern Ireland Assembly, were created give more indipendence to parts of UK
European Parliament:
members elected for 5 years; helps to make european laws

three centuries later King Henry broke up Church of Rome --> Church of England, King/Queen head
after revolution 1689 the Bill of Rights guaranteed Parliaments Rights
in 1832 more men had right to vote, but not women
since1969 everyone over 18 vote
