- - - - The First Five Year Plan 1953-57. Through the fist five year plan, Mao aimed to industrialize rapidly to become one of the most powerful country in the world. Furthermore, the plan aimed to double the amount of industrial output and complete a'socialist transformation'. Through the first five year plan, China was able to reach and over exceed the output value that was plan by 1957.
        
        The Great Leap Forward 1958-62 By 1957, Mao believed that the country could go forward through massive increase in steel production. Through this policy, almost all the peasants had been merged into about 27,000 communes, which were run almost like a military manner. Also China try to produce 'super crops' with really high production fields. This lead false reporting of grain production and therefore the state took the local official's quota. This resulted into peasants having little or nothing to eat. Peasants began to starve due to famine leading to cannibalism. About 50 million people die as a result of the Great Leap Forward.
    - - Marriage reform law of 1950. Thorough this policy, both genders were able to to be equal in unity and both genders had to agree to be married. In other words, the marriage reform law eliminated arranged marriages. Through this reform, Mao aimed to have support of women and other individuals that were against arrange marriages. As a result of this reform, Mao gained the support of many women and was able to consolidate power.
    - - Marriage Reforms 1950 Through marriage reforms and other laws passed in the same year, the government abolish practices such as foot binding and allowed women to own property and land. Under Mao, women had more equality. Through these policies or human rights, Mao showed a less conservative interest, which convey that he was looking forward to get rid of the old culture and establish a new culture based on his ideologies. As a result of these cultural laws, Mao was able to get more support from women.
        
        The Hundred Flowers Campaign and the Anti-Rightist Movement The hundred flowers campaign aimed to promote progress in the fields of art, literature, and science, by allowing criticism and some freedom of expression.The criticisms received would help bring improvements to the country. However, the CPC's actions were negatively criticized, which led the Anti-rightist movements. In the anti-rightist movement 1957, many intellectuals were identify as rightists and many committed suicide or were executes and were sent to the countryside to learn from then peasants or were sent to labor camps.
