The New Deal 
The Civilian Conservation Corps was a public relief program that unemployed, unmarried men from relief families as part of the New Deal.
Works Progress Administration provided jobs for many unemployed people by offering construction work which benefited the community. Also, it gave jobs to many artists and actors.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the New Deal and helped the nation out of a depression greatly caused by his predecessor, Herbert Hoover.
Social Security Act. One method of lessening the effects of the Great Depression. the general welfare by establishing a system of Federal old-age benefits, and by enabling the several States to make more adequate provision for dependent people.
Agriculture Adjustment Act was used provide recovery from overproduction. It paid farmers subsidies not to plant on parts of land and kill off excess livestock. By doing this, crop surplus was reduced and the value of crops increased. #

World War II # 
Born in Austria, Hitler became a radical German nationalist during World War I. Hitler led the National Socialist German Worker's Party, otherwise known as the Nazi party, in the 1920s. This led to him becoming dictator of Germany in 1933. Adolf Hitler led the country into World War II.
The Holocaust was a methodical plan orchestrated by Hitler to ensure German supremacy. It called for the elimination of Jews, non-conformists, homosexuals, non-Aryans, and mentally and physically disabled.
The relations between Japan and America had been tense prior to the Pearl Harbor Bombings, however the Japanese naval air force made a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor. Several battleships of the U.S. Pacific fleet were damaged or sunk. This attack resulted in an Amercian declaration of war on Japan and Germany the following day, and officially entering into World War II. #
On 11th March 1941, Congress passed the Lend-Lease Act. The legislation gave President Franklin D. Roosevelt the powers to sell, transfer, exchange, lend equipment to any country to help it defend itself against the Axis powers.
A sum of $50 billion was appropriated by Congress for Lend-Lease. The money went to 38 different countries with Britain receiving over $31 billion. Over the next few years the British government repaid $650 million of this sum. #
On September 16, 1940, the United States instituted the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, which required all men between the ages of 21 and 45 to register for the draft. This was the first peacetime draft in United States' history. Those who were selected from the draft lottery were required to serve at least one year in the armed forces. Once the U.S. entered WWII, draft terms extended through the duration of the fighting. By the end of the war in 1945, 50 million men between eighteen and forty-five had registered for the draft and 10 million had been inducted in the military.
Executive Order 9066 authorized the Secretary of War and the U.S. Armed Forces to declare military areas from which any or all persons may be excluded. Did not specify nationality or ethnic group but led to the relocation of Japanese Americans to internment camps#

The Red Scare was a series of raids to arrest suspected communists. It arose from the fear that European immigrants planned to overthrow America.
The Great Migration the movement of 6 million African-Americans out of the rural Southern United States to the urban Northeast, Midwest, and West #
The roles of women began to become more pronounced as women demanded equal rights. Figures such as Rose the Riveter urged women to fight for equality and have a new stance on the role of women in society. Women were also the backbone of the nation during World War II when men were drafted to go into the war.
Advancements in Technology which included things such as radio technology. It offered industrial advancements and entertainment such as introducing various inventions like the radio and bringing a rise to the movie industry. #
The Great Depression 
President Herbert Hoover was widely blamed for the Great Depression and lost the reelection to office. He believed in the lassies faire ideology, and initially he did nothing to help deal with the economic issues. He had the Harley Smoot Tariff which led to further issues by slowing global trade and the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in attempts to deal with the depression. However, the effects of the Great Depression were finally lessened by President Roosevelt's New Deal # #
The Stock Market Crash of 1929 led to the beginning of the Great Depression. There was tremendous speculation in the prices of stocks, people were buying stock on margin believing they could make sell the stocks later and make a profit. However, copious stocks were sold on Black Tuesday, leading to the start of the Great Depression. #
Overproduction was the main factor of the Great Depression. Factories and farms were producing more that people could afford to buy. This led to falling prices and many workers were fired.
The Republican presidents during the time of the Great Depression favored a laissez faire government, with limited government intervention in the economic issues. This lassies faire ideology created many issues, and the government eventually had to take part in aiding the economy.
