School of Nursing Reflective Plan
one page profiles
This is a way of introducing the personal tutors profile
Personal Tutors by Zone
personal tutors year one try to allocate per zone
hub and spoke model
eg zone child lead would feed back to the key personal tutor
if we end up with zoned personal tutors then hub and spoke would be kept within that zone = partial following the student round -- reason for not following student around totally is the potential of areas feeling they have to meet new personal tutors all the time so not have one person to engage with this needing to balance bot
Stories in hats
know the people in the zone and feed back any personal tutor issues
use the student enhancement as a means for coaching in clinical and using the cards again and get them to share if comfortable how they might approach this. if need referral to pt could self refer link could do this
year 2 and 3 need to consider what we would do as the students and zones don't match either radical change or gradual change think about
widening participation students
should we treat them the same as those in care ie offering additional support
In the Moment Reflection
benefits for self
benefits in clinical environment
building self efficacy
coaching / clinical supervision curciullum
Academia personal tutoring approach
Evidence BME Communities and ways of engaging
find some data if any about this- looks as though data set indicates improvement if there is more engagement
Support for personal tutors within the zone
sessions to include what are we doing in this support that relate to BME and Widening support
problem solving through action learning and reflective sessions
could this also be part of the learning in the zone meeting with practice partners ie how does the student experience relate to the same
I need to complete report by 7th April for SMG copy for Paul and for Karen Elcock
put on hold away day date for further discussions
plan in diary
include focus on key area such as mental health
nursingcurrciulum
resilance
attainment gap
programmes for different stages
First years will be given postcards and use this as an initial introduction to the personal tutors- perhaps do this in the first group as a general way of introducing the concepts and self - and how this fits into the curriculum the idea is so they can see the significance of this as they go into the programme - so perhaps we might encourage them to also use image to represent some of their learning experiences out in practice
second years and third years introduce the concept as part of the tutor sessions students bring their own image and we use
First tutor meeting can use this
can we use this to build into the programme of reflection
ideas second and third years use this as part of the peer coaching so that we can then potentially use this as part of the assessment in the third year
could we also consider the concept of clinical supervision and introduce this in the learning for the third years
student voice
stories in hats
whose voice
longerterm
use it for some of the colleges as widening participation introduction to ths course
build evaluation in the processes for each year group keep these in narrative format
