We've all heard the story of the starving chef, the barefoot shoemaker…
We've all heard the story of the starving chef, the barefoot shoemaker and now suicidal the doctors - what an oxymoron.
Elizabeth Kolbert used a section structure for her story. The parts of her story stood on their own, but blended together to convey the overarching point. Each section of her writing had a different feel from the one previous. Some where very descriptive of surroundings, visual data with strong imagery. While other parts were very fact oriented, looking at scientific data to make claims.

Section Structure: Addressing who I am and my current views on the medical field before I researched whats happening. Then lead into the digital story topic.
Talk about suicide rates in the medical field. Then lead into the topic of hazing and bullying in physician schools and the last words of students who killed themselves because of the stress.
Transition into the potential solutions to these problems and my outlook as I continue on my education.
Lab 5
The suicide notes that I am looking for are from people who ended their lives either during their schooling or afterwards once they joined the working force of physicians. They assert that the environmental factors, inability to obtain medical care, along side the stress from school led to their death.
Introduction: Background information about suicide, and the statistics associated with it. Along with my personal opinion on the issue.
Story 1: This is about suicide in medical schools. Analyze the situation that occurred and point out key information.
Story 2: Suicide in hospitals because of work related stress and poorly managed depression. Highlighting the accessibility of medications in drug related suicides.

Poems: Madhubuti,Haki R. "Louder but Softer"
Reading, Peter "The brass plate polished wordless"
Both these poems are about physicians and suicides. They could be used for some insight to someone first hand experience with suicide. Along side this I will later find suicide notes from deceased physicians and physician students.
"Physician suicide and physician health programs" by A.J. Reid Finlayson M.D and others, analysis past physician substance abuse disorders.
Ethos
Based on this clip from the film DamNation, what outside source/professional expert strikes you as the most credible, or powerful in making the film’s point? The man from 20-30 years ago at the damn when he talks about the damns and his views. They are relatable to the arguments being made in modern time.
I show ethos in my essay by talking about the experiences that students and licensed physicians have experienced in the medical field. Some of these are from deceased people.

"The Lancet" written by Hawton, K and Heeringen, K has information on suicide rates based on ethnic origin, employment status, and occupation.
Kairos
Currently people are not aware of the hazing and bullying going on in medical institutions. As well as the dangerous nature of these types of jobs, being liked to higher rates of depression, and consequently higher suicide rates. This topic needs to be known by the population in order to bring about future reform to the system.
HI, my name is Alexander, and I am a pre-nursing student at the University of Nevada. I am researching the increased suicide rates in the physician field. I have a few questions to ask you about your experience as an educator in medical schools and your expertise on the subject of Metal Disease. Would you have a few moments to address these questions perhaps in a personal interview or via email? If there is another person to whom I should direct these questions, please let me know.Sincerely,
Alexander Lopez
