Dun Duns/Talking Drum/Donnos
- Double headed - skin on either end, tilted sideways to play
- Curved stick used
Djembe
- Untuned percussion using a hand to play
- 3 different sounds
= Bass (in the middle)
= Tone (near the edge)
=Slap (on the rim)
Vocals
- Male choir
- One lead vocalist who has short solos
- Chorus (unison) or call and response
Balafon - tuned percussion
- Played with sticks/beaters
- Sound dies instantly - longer note requires roll/trill on the key
- Keys are different sizes - smaller = higher pitch
- Played in octaves with a few variations - explains their texture
