Marshall McLuhan: 1964, "understanding the effects of technology as it related to popular culture, and how this in turn affected human beings and their relations w/ one another in communities #
Hilton, Jason Theodore: "A Case Study of the Application of SAMR & TPACK for Reflection on Technology Integration into Two Social Studies Classrooms"
Hickey, George: "The Importance of Learning Philosophies on Technology Selection in Education"
Behaviourists: Pavlov, Watson, & Skinner
Constructivists: Dewey, Piaget, & Vygotsky (of the ZoPD and More Knowledgeable Other fame)
Pitfalls
Both Constructivist & Behaviourist: learner & teacher access to tech & ability to use them, increased potential for distracted learners, & cost of devel. infrastructure & resources. Perception is also important; students and/or teachers may view with suspicion.
Behaviourists: distractions are a problem, along w/ the sheer # of connections and resources on the internet which expose learners to diverging (& often contradictory) POVs. "exposure to fringe ideas may interfere w/ an unambiguous understanding"
Social Constructivists: nature & depth of interactions is different than in traditional classes (and only SOMETIMES more effective). Cognitive functions may be restricted and literacy skills compromised when using tech in place of some traditional mediums. Many online mediums also are basically just broadcasts; w/ no promise of consumption or comment.
Socratic Method: discussions likely to be highly contextual & may result in premature end to discussions before assent is reached

Legislation
AB's School Act indicates clear responsibility to protect students in the event of bullying, even when it's outside the classroom (as in the case of cyberbullying) as soon as aware of it #
Criminal Code of Canada: communication that causes targets to fear for their own safety is a crime. It is also a crime to take a picture where privacy could be expected.
Canadian Human Rights Act: cannot publish "defamatory libel" based on race, nationality, religion, disability, & so forth
