The informal Ss: this is what actually happens...
Staff - who are they, women, men, white, from black and ethnic minorities, older, younger, at what level? How motivated are they? What are their aspirations? What is their view of the organisation?
Skills - what skills are there in the organisation? For example, what management skills are there? Who has these skills? How are they valued? How are men's skills and women's skills valued? What management skills are there to surface issues of difference and power?
Style - what management style is common in the organisation? Is it authoritarian, democratic of developmental? What is the style of interaction between men and women, people from black and ethnic minorities and white people? Who talks to whom? Who listens? Who is silent or not mentioned?
Shared values and goals - what are the underlying values and goals that staff share? Or are they different? How are men's contributions and women's contributions valued? How are contributions from `higher level' staff/'lower level' staff used?
