Thesis
In the early 1930's the Great depression hit Europe with an economic crisis, which included mass unemployment, the destruction of optimism of political leaders, and people that were willing to support radical attempts of democratic leaders and dictators. This crisis led countries to move leftward on the political scale. For example France and Scandinavia made an attempt to increase the social welfare and security benefits throughout their country. Also Great Britain had an increase in the nationalism while Germany's republican democracy gained support.
