What was the transatlantic slave trade?
The transatlantic slave trade started in the 15th century and ended in 1807 but illegal slaves were still sold for another 60 years.
The transatlantic slave trade existed because there was work to be done that needed bodies to do, they needed slaves because the whites wanted work done to become wealthy and they needed people to do it.
The transatlantic slave trade was a trade of slaves and goods across the Atlantic between Europe, The Americas, The Caribbean islands, and other parts of Africa.
What was the middle passage? !
The Middle passage was the crossing of slaves and goods between Africa and the Colonies
How were the conditions?
The conditions were terrible. Below decks there was no space to move at all, it was dark, there was a lack of fresh air. All of the slaves were chained together.
many people died on their way tho the Americas. Sometimes it would take ten days for the crew to find a dead body.
Why were slaves brought to the colonies?
The colonist who had survived the starving time were desperate for labor to grow food for them to survive. Also, the demand for slaves was so high that people would be willing to pay more, so the demand increased.
They did not enslave the Native Americans because there were just too many of them, and they knew the area they were in, they had lived there their whole lives to they know where to hide and how to defend themselves.
The first slaves were brought to the colonies in 1619 to Jamestown Virginia. They were brought to work on tobacco fields and other jobs like working in cotton fields.
Why was American slavery the cruelest form of slavery?
There was a belief that god meant for blacks to be slaves and that they were less than human and it was a driven by a need to profit

In 1763 there were about 170000 slaves were in the Americas. That was about half the population. In total, about ten million to fifteen million made it to the Americas
How may people died?
Sadly, around a third of the slaves died, that's around fifty miilion people that died.
