Medicine accompanied by hope results in an increase of survival.
Buddy Ruck (small cell lung cancer survivor)
He quickly lost 20 pounds and started to hate God. He then found a blog of a 4 year survivor who sparked hope inside him. The doctor told him he could beat it, so he's now helping others.

Jane trying to receive her Workman's Compensation
Jane had been fighting her company for a long time and had given up. She was depressed and suicidal, but was convinced to keep mediating and won. Her depression stopped.
Dr. Cridland, author of this article, stated, "What I know is that 'Hope is the best medicine.' Hope is one of the most powerful attitudes, emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and motivators."
CA- Her depression stopped when she won, so it might not have just been hope.

A recent study of 146 PTSD veterans were enrolled in a 6 week program. Hope was measured at the beginning, middle, and end of the treatment. Higher levels of hope resulted in reduction of PTSD.

I need to find statistics from placebo vs. medicine. (Placebo provides hope.).
I need to find someone arguing the difference between hope and faith and how it affects people.
Conclusion- It is hard to just analyze hope, but most statistics back up the fact that it increases survival rates.
