Afterload Reducing Agents - Allow blood to flow to the body by increasing vasodilation, therefore reducing the work of the heart. Some of these medications include:
• Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ingested orally) e.g Captopril, Enalapril, Lisinopril, Monopril – Some side effects include increased potassium levels, low white blood cell count, low blood pressure and kidney or live abnormalities.
• Angiotensin 1 Blocker (ingested orally) – Side effects include dizziness, diarrhea and muscle cramps.
