Newton´s First and Second Laws of Motion

force
is a push or a pull. There are two types of forces.

In an
unbalanced force
, the effects do not cancel out.

net force
is the combination of all the forces exerted on an object.
When there is more than one force acting on a an object, the net force determines the motion of an object.
Balanced forces
are two or more forces that are exerted on an object that cancel each other out.
Friction is the force that brings nearly everything to a stop.
Acts to resist sliding between two touching surfaces.
Caused by atoms that form attractions between the objects.
Static Friction
prevents an object from moving when a force is applied.
For an object to be moved, the force needs to be strong enough to break the bonds between the atoms that hold each object together.
Static Friction
is the product of roughness on the two surfaces of objects.
Slows down an object that slides.
Force can be exerted in different ways.
A force can act on an object without causing is to accelerate if the forces cancel out.
Newton's first law of motion
states that if the net force acting on an object is zero, the object remains at rest, or if the object is already moving, it continues to move in a straight line with constant speed.

Keeps tires and wheels from slipping on the ground.
Newton's Second Law of Motion
connects force, acceleration, and mass.
Acceleration occurs any time an object speeds up, slows down, or changes its direction of motion.

is the gravitational force between you and Earth
Center of Mass
is the point in an object that moves as if all the object's mass were concentrated at that point.
Force is measured in newtons.
Weight will vary by location, mass will stay constant.

To slow down an object, you would have to push or pull it against the direction it is moving.

If you move in a circular motion, the direction of your motion is constantly changing which means you are constantly accelerating, much like a clock.
Air resistance gets larger as an object moves faster.

Mass is the amount of matter in an object, and it does not depend on location.
The center of mass moves as if the net force is being applied there.
