A failed attack
The patriot attack fell apart of some 4,000 american troops and only 700 escaped.
In August 1780, patriots led by Horatio Gates tried to drive the British out of Camden.

Brutal fighting
Banastre Tarleton, sowed fear throughout the south by refusing to take prisoners and killing soldiers who surrendered
3,500 red coats took Savannah and soon put in place a new colonial government.
In may 1780 Patriots surrendered Charleston handing over 4 ships and 5,400 prisoners.
