John Paul Jones

Jones famous capture of the British war ships was the Serapis. He had captured many many more ship.

The British surrendered to Jones and that day when they took the Serapis was a victory for the Continental army.

John Paul Jones help the continental army but before he did that he was an outlaw to everyone. when he got ships from the French he named his flagship Bonhomme Richard.

War in the west

Clark helped out because by the time when the war had broken out the knew the west very well.

In 1779 Clark had made a surprised attack on Fort Sackville that was near the town of Georgia.

George Rogers Clark lead the Campaign in the west to help out.

Brutal fighting

Georgia was the last colony that join the revolution and they were the first to fall to the British .

A British officer Banastre Tarleton sowed fear in the South he did not kill people that were trying to surrender.

One of the British victories was when they went to capture Charleston, South Carolina

A failed attack

Guerrilla Warfare

This was led by Horatio Gates. Gates had half as many men then the British had.

When the Patriots were in the middle of fighting many got scared and the panicked and ran.

In 1778 the Patriots were going to try to drive the British out of Camden. When they tried that they had failed.

Francis Marion created the Guerrilla warfare to do swift hit-and-run against the British.

He used the attacks to disrupt the British communicating with each other making it good for the Patriots.

The Guerrilla Warfare was created by Francis Marion.

War at sea

By February 1776 the continental army had 8 ship to use in fighting.

In that month the continental army after a British supply base in the Bahamas. The continental army did capture they British supplies.

Everyone thought the British would defeat the continental army but the British failed
