The Pangaea Break Up
When: Pangaea began to break up in the early Triassic and late Permian. Pangaea broke up in to two super continents called Laurasia and Gondwanaland. From the break up of Pangaea to the world of what we know today, the world kept breaking up into different continents. Gondwanaland and Laurasia broke up about 180-200 million years ago.
Why: Pangaea broke up because of the movement of the tectonic plates causing lava to be pushed up and split Pangaea in to two landmasses called Laurasia and Gondwanaland.
Where: Pangaea was surrounded by the Panthalassa sea, when Pangaea broke up into Laurasia and Gondwanaland it was surrounded by the Tethys sea.
What: Pangaea is an amazing super continent that broke up during the Triassic period.
