National Education System
General Basic Education Level
It is composed of grades 1 to 9 with children from 6 to 15 years.
General basic education will provide the knowledge for the integral formation to learn to be, to learn to do, to learn to learn and to learn to coexist.
Preschool education
To improve the level is being done: evaluation of 4 to 5 years.
Primary education
The following changes have been made:
Review of the general objectives of General Basic Education.
Objectives and contents were selected for the preparation of the basic learning in each of the subjects
Reformulation of the area of technology and its programs.
Level of Education
It is composed of the following years: fourth, fifth and sixth

Rights and duties
Everyone has the right to education and the responsibility to be educated.
Education is democratic and founded on principles of human solidarity and social justice
Education should address the harmonious and integral development of the student within the social coexistence
It is recognized that it is the purpose of Panamanian education to foster in the student a national conscience based on the knowledge of history and the problems of the homeland.
Reality
There are programs used in the year 1993 that continue to work today.
In the Structure of the Programs of Study of the Average Education Curricular transformations are being done in order to improve the quality of the students' graduation.
Level of higher education
The third level of education or higher comprises post-secondary education, non-university higher education and university higher education.
Non-university higher education is taught in non-university higher education institutions and in post-secondary education centers.
State Universities
University of Panama:
It exists to serve the nation to the people of Panama assuming its leadership role in the integral, scientific, humanistic and technological formation of the students.
Technological University of Panama:
To train at the highest level human resources that generate, transform, project and transfer science and technology to undertake, promote and promote the country's technological, economic, cultural and social development.
Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí:
Contribute to the social, economic and political development of Panamanian society.
Private Universities
Universidad Santa María La Antigua:
Promote an integral culture capable of forming people who are distinguished by their deep knowledge, their sincere practice of Christian morality and their commitment to the creation of a more just and fraternal society.
Florida State University
: To provide the academic community of the Republic of Panama with a university education enriched with culture and high technology.
Nova Southeastern University:
Prepare students for lifelong learning, the role of leadership in professional business, develop creativity and research.
Duties
The state must provide the essential assets and resources to foster higher education in order to allow an enabling environment.
Distance Education or Training
It is the process by which a person or groups of people can prepare themselves cognitively, technically and attitudinally; Without the need of permanently attending face-to-face sessions.
He who qualifies himself is the one who chooses the schedule and regulates factors of the rhythm of learning
Non-Regular Education System
Early Childhood Education Level
The pedagogical approach that underpins this program is oriented towards the joint participation of the educator, family, boy, girl.
This level includes infants between two and five years old who attend day care centers.
Youth and Adult Education
This will be offered to the population over the age of fifteen who has not had the opportunity to enter the educational services of the regular sub-system
Adult secondary education: secondary education comprises two cycles: first cycle general culture and the second cycle with diversified modalities.
Special education
The current conception of special education is based on three principles:
The recognition of the potential of any human being.
The concept of human dignity
The principle of normalization in the life of the individual with a disability
Special education in our country is based on the following policies:
Ensure all students with special educational needs access to inclusive and quality education.
Guarantee in the educational services the provision of human, technical and didactic resources
Ensure that curricular flexibility contemplates the possibility of practicing their adaptation in populations with special educational needs.
DEfficiencies or Disabilities Accomplished by the educational system
Persons with physical or mental disabilities
People with specific learning disorders with social imbalances and with problems of chemo-dependence.
People with exceptional intellectual conditions and special talents.
