Allergic reactions
BT toxin, designed to kill pests that eat crops, caused allergies and other responses
Confusing in labeling
-
Obama signed a labeling law, but a smartphone is needed to read the code on a GMO product
Cross polination
pollen from modified plants can spreads and will infect other plants, creating "superweeds" with insecticidal properties or herbicide-resistance

More nutritious
Engineers are able to make rice that has more vitamin A and more iron, it is also more nutritious
Healthier, tastier, and easier to grow
Engineers genitally modify foods so that they are healthier, tastier, and easier to grow
Claim: One major concern about GMO's are that they have caused a lot of finantial impacts in the past and they might again in the future.
Evidence: GM crops have cost the United States an estimated $12 billion in farm subsidies, lost sales and product recalls due to transgenic contamination
COUNTERCLAIM: While the U.S. has been spending lots of money it has helped save papayas and other plants.
Counterarguement: That is true but because they are spending all of this money of food, they won't have enough money to get cleaner water or donate to charities or help kids in Africa.
Claim: One major benefit of GMO's is that they can help fees the hungry, especially in Africa and Kenya where people are so poor that they can afford food.
Evidence: Genetically modified foods could be helpful in feeding the hungry. They could help poor countries produce more food.
While this could be good, a hungry person could be allergic to the genes from another fruit and die. That would not save them.
Counterarguement: That is true but have when scientists GMO foods they try to make the two fruits or vegetables the same as possible so that they have the same genes.
