Track
trying a new sport, with no experience
Open- MIndedness
accepting of everyone
coming from a diverse background I am able to recognize others who are different and not judge them based on how they look or first seem to me.
Caring
for my friends
I care for my friends a lot, even if I need to work on my emotional intelligence to communicate it. On valentine's day I incorporate my love of art in our friendship and I make them cards.
In my work
In my artwork, I always pour myself into the project, another example of what "leaning in" is for me.
Inquirer
excitement for learning new things (history class, watching documentaries)
Myers-Briggs (INTJ)
Introvert
I tend to make more of my interactions inwardly, and prefer to be alone sometimes
-
Thinking
I usually weight the pros and cons of a situation before i jump in, (logistics, etc) (eg. joining a new club/team)
-
Emotional Intelligence
I need to work on managing my relationships, specifically groupwork through communication to improve my empathy.

Taking Risks
I have begun to write more after being inspired by our writing submissions, and my goal is to submit a writing piece next year
Drawing
Leadership
Being part of perennial has inspired me to take on leadership roles and working hard to improve my artwork. My goal is to become a senior art editor in the future.
This also improves my emotional intelligence as my groupwork skills are not as good as I would like them to be. By collaborating with others on the Perennial I can develop these skills.

Education
All Girls School
Private School
Branksome
Coming previously from a public school I am able to appreciate the opportunities that Branksome offers, especially being able to learn with other girls that I consider family.
Family
I spend a lot of time with my cousins since they are the same age as me and we support each other and talk about our problems. I am lucky to have family my age that I can share with.
Going forward, I will use the key ideas from the Sheryl Sandberg TED talk to support my family, and maintain close ties with my cousin.
Vacation
Camp
At my camp we constantly remind ourselves of our priviledge of being able to spend our summer in such a wonderful place. One example of the forms of gratitude we show at camp is something we do called "Rose and Thorn". We do this at night before we go to bed and we go around the cabin saying one thing we are grateful for from our day (rose) and one thing we didn't enjoy or wish we could change (thorn).
Travel
Being able to travel to exciting places like I did last year in Korea is an amazing opportunity, and Iast year I used it to the full extent by surrounding myself with all jeju had to offer and embracing Korea.

Self-Regulation through Journaling
Journaling and time-planning allows me to keep all of my items (homework, reminders, notes, etc.) in one place. My journal is a large part of my life and I use it in various ways.
Prioritizing
I use my journal to prioritize the things I need to do by importance and by difficulty. By being organized I am able to prepare my mind for doing work, and I'm able to work while I'm stressed, part of what I learned from Kelly McGonigal's Stress TED Talk.
Reflecting
I use my journal to reflect on my day by writing one happy memory in it every day. This allows my to express gratitude for the things in my life i enjoy.

Mental Health
Volunteering
Mental Health is very important to me as I was personally affected by it when I was in 8th grade when one of my teammates committed suicide. Since then, I have made an effort inwardly and externally to prevent this from happening again. By reflecting gratitude I am able to benefit my mental health and each year I volunteer at a fundraising walk in honor of my teammate.
Art/ Self Expression
Freedom of speech
Being able to speak my mind through art #
