Dickens wrote ACC as a christian story of redemption to encourage others to be generous. He used it to broadcast the meaning of Christmas and spread his idea that the wealthy should help the poor. As Christians it was their responsibility to help the poor and those in need, follow Jesus' example and get to heaven. When Scrooge is generous the church bells are positive
