What is the Eucharist? (CCC 271)
It is a sign of unity, a bond of charity and a
paschal banquet
Paschal Banquet
: Christ sacramentally makes present his Passover and gives us his Body and Blood in the form of food and drink (CCC 287)
It has other names because of its richness to express various aspects: Holy Mass, the Lord’s Supper, the Breaking of the Bread, the Holy Sacrifice, holy communion etc. (CCC 275)
It is the Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ
It is the source and summit of all Christian life. Through the eucharistic celebration we are united already with the liturgy of heaven and we have a foretaste of eternal life. (ccc 274)
