The Industrial Revolution led to a mass production of a number of products, the discovery of new building materials, (like steel) light bulbs etc. All of these combined helped in the advancement of transportation technologies as well as other machinery previously developed machinery. The development of better transportation technology increased the connectivity of people in Britain and around the world. This then led Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, to put on the Great Exhibition; a culmination of exhibits that showed, amongst other things, technological progress since the beginning of the industrial revolution.
