        A constant multiplied by a variable is called a coefficient

        In the expression ax^2+bx+c, the a and b are coefficients, and the c is a constant

        To convert a percent problem to algebra
        
        Replace the word "is" with =
        
        Replace % or word percent with 1/100
        
        Replace the word "of"with the multiplication sign *
        
        Above problem becomes 4 units = 50/100*8units
        
        Example on page 182: what is 40 percent of 25
        
        x = 40/100*25
        
        x=.4*25
        
        x=10
        
        Percent change is the difference between two values, divided by the first value ( except when the first value is 0)
        
        Steps
        
        compue the change factor (ration of 2nd to 1st)
        
        or
        
        compute the change value (2nd minus 1st_
        
        Divide change value by 1st value, multiply by 100
        
        WHen applied if you get a positive number than its an increase, negative number = decrease
