Conducting an Interview
Tips
In Person
Observe Everything
Best method over email or text. Better interview.
Pay attention to the room/office. Awards? Pictures?
Take Notes
Make a record of the interview. Write answers next to planned questions. Shorthand is good.
Star or check something important when it is said.
Put quotes around what I think might be a good quote to use later.
Summarize, don't try to write everything down.
Follow the Right Path
Don't get so caught up on preset questions that you miss a bigger more interesting story. Go back to pre-planned questions later if needed.
Good Interviewing Habits of Good Reporters
Be Polite
Ask for correct spelling of their name, ALWAYS
Eye Contact
Don't keep people late
