It is also used by Catholics to refer to the part of the service where you receive Jesus’ body and blood.

it stresses that this is what we do to thank God for everything he has done for humanity: for creating us, for his love, for Jesus, for the salvation he won through his death and resurrection.
It is an offering of thanksgiving, so this term emphasises the belief that Jesus’ sacrifice is made present at the Eucharistic meal, as Jesus death on the cross is considered to be the perfect offering made to God.

It is a way to remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and the love God has for humanity.
