Rights are anchored thanks to the Civil Rights Movement
they influence politics (increasingly register to vote)
Celebrities like Jay Z and Beyoncé show success in American society
are accepted by neighbourhoods and attain the same High-schools as Whites

Jails and death rows are often crowded with Blacks
They are targets of police race-hate crime (Michael Brown)
The pay gap between Whites and Blacks is still an issue (poorer education, result of racial discrimination)
